Join Us for Mardi Gras Fun on Saturday!

Tickets are still available for the annual Groundhog Day Dinner & Auction.  This year’s Mardi Gras themed party is Saturday, January 31st from 5:30 to 11:00 p.m. at Donley’s Banquet Hall in Union.  Tickets, which include dinner, are $55 and there will be a cash bar.  Please see “Read more” below for more information and a list of the auction items.

WNHS Math Team Earns 1st Place at NIATM Competition

On January 15, 2015 the Woodstock North math team competed at Rockford University for the NIATM Math Invitational Competition, and took First Place Overall in Division A1. Schools competing included Belvidere, Belvidere North, Boylan, Byron, Harlem, Hononegah, Rochelle, Stillman Valley, Winnebago, Woodstock High School and Woodstock North.  Overall there were about 350 students at the competition.

District 200 Offers EKG Screenings to High School Students

An EKG test can detect about 40% of those at risk for sudden cardiac death.  We feel that this is a beneficial test for our students.  To that end, Centegra Health System and District 200 would like to celebrate National Heart Month by offering EKG testing to all high school students during physical education classes on the following dates:

Illinois 5Essentials Survey

This year the Illinois 5Essentials Survey will be administered to students in grades 6-12. The survey is designed by the University of Chicago and is being used by the Illinois State Board of Education as part of the state’s school accountability process. The survey gathers information about the school’s learning environment from the perspective of the teacher and student.

WNHS Athletic Department "Fun(d)" Raisers!

WNHS Athletic Department invites to you to enjoy 2 opportunities for great food, great times, all while earning money for the Thunder!  Buffalo Wild Wings in Crystal Lake will be having their annual Spirit Night Challenge on Thurs., Jan. 29 all day long!  They will donate 15% of your bill that day back to the Thunder.  Then you can go to Buffalo Wild Wings in McHenry as many times as you want from now until May 1 and they will donate 10% of your tab back to WNHS. SHAPE Woodstock Event Rescheduled for April 9th

We are happy to announce that the SHAPE Woodstock workshop with Paul Zientarski has been rescheduled for Thursday, April 9th. Inclement weather on January 8th forced the cancellation of our original program, and we are grateful that Mr. Zientarski is able to reschedule with us for April.  Zientarski is the  founder of the Learning Readiness Program for Naperville School District 203.  He will discuss how he and other educators have made a difference in the lives of students through exercise.

As professionals dedicated to safely transporting children, the care and protection of our students is always on the minds of the D200 Transportation staff.   As winter approaches (bringing with it winter driving conditions), the Transportation Department would like to remind all D200 families of some important safety guidelines.

Notes of Love Home Presented to Veteran

Tim Carner, a medically-retired Army veteran, and his family will be recipients of a new home provided through the Operation Finally Home.  This is a Texas-based nonprofit organization that provides houses to wounded vets.  Recently, Mr. Carner and his family were shown a preview of their new home.
