Woodstock North High School

Closings and Cancellations

The Superintendent makes the decision to close schools in the event of severe weather or other emergencies that threaten the safety of students, staff members, school or property.  Information about school closings will be announced immediately after a decision is made.  The best ways to find out if school will be in session are to:

  • Wait for notification from District 200.
  • Visit the District 200 website.  A large banner will be posted across the top of each webpage, announcing any emergency closing.
  • Visit the D200 Facebook page, where a message will be posted.
  • Watch/listen to Chicagoland/McHenry County news media.
  • Check out the Emergency Closing Center at www.emergencyclosings.com.
  • During severe weather conditions, emergency messages will be sent ONLY IF SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED. No message will be sent or posted if schools are open.

Please DO NOT call the school to inquire about possible closings.

A number of factors are studied when considering whether or not to cancel school.  Weather conditions may vary in different locations around the district.  Ultimately, the decision as to whether a student is kept home during inclement weather is the parent’s.
