WNHS Athletic Events

Volunteers are needed for various athletic events and to assist with concessions. Please see Mrs. Zinnen, Athletic Dept. Secretary if you are interested. 

Volunteer Center McHenry County

Volunteer Center McHenry County can help individuals and groups find meaningful places to volunteer. More than 100 nonprofit organizations post volunteer and donation needs on the website. For more information, or help finding the right opportunity, call (815) 344-GIVE (4483).

Habitat for Humanity ReStore

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization that provides affordable housing. ReStores accept donations of new and used items from individuals, retailers and contractors, then resell them to the community at affordable prices. All proceeds help fund the affiliate’s work in McHenry County. Volunteer time is best on Saturday. Wear work clothes and be prepared to get dirty.

City of Woodstock

Students can attend city council meetings, roadside clean-up, and other community service activities.

Woodstock Chamber of Commerce

The Chamber partners with local businesses and organizations to sponsor and host local events to enhance tourism and quality of life for our residents. The Chamber is all about connecting people and supporting local.  Please contact Thunder Service Club Advisor, Ms. Hall for upcoming events. 

Woodstock Opera House

Woodstock Opera House is always looking for community members to volunteer as ushers during performance as well as weekend tour guides.

Woodstock Food Pantry

The Woodstock Food Pantry provides food for the economically disadvantaged. Volunteers at the food pantry help stock and distribute goods. Students can also help organize a food drive.

Helping Paws

Helping Paws is a non-profit organization that provides shelter, and ultimately a home, for pets in need. Volunteers also may be asked to clean and organize the facility.

NISRA

NISRA provides year-round recreation activities for local children and adults with disabilities. Volunteers commit to assist with one of the programs for the entire season. Program seasons run between 6-8 weeks, once a week for approximately 1-3 hours. In addition to weekly programs, one-day special event opportunities may also be available. Please note, volunteers must be at least 15 years of age.

Blood Drives

Contact a local blood donation Center for volunteer opportunities.  For those of you who don’t want to donate blood, you can also help organize and facilitate a blood drive.
